Three Month Update including first BAC meeting.

First off, I know I need to do a better job posting regular updates. I will bullet point this update so there isn't too much to read.

• Orientation happened in December after we were sworn in. The timing was a bit odd to me but it was good to get it done. I do wish we had more time to meet with all that presented as it felt rushed.

• I attended the National School Board Association Equity Symposium and Advocacy Institute in January with fellow board member Lynn Edmonds. We have required board training and it was a good experience.

• We had our first Board Advisory Committee on February 27th at Carroll MS. The Assistant Superintendent of Academics Drew Cook presented for the group. Drew has been in WCPSS for over 25 years starting as a teacher, followed by a long stint as Principal at Garner HS before moving to Central Services. • Enjoyed being at Stough Elementary for the introduction of their new principal, Jodi Lay. It was a pleasure to meet her, as well as staff and PTA members. It is a beautiful school filled with lots of great people.
